THE OVEA STORY
For nearly 20 years, I lived the same monthly cycle as millions of other women: dealing with heavy flows, painful cramping, and the stress of leaks. Like many of us, I used thousands of disposable period products, often missing out on school and life because of the discomfort. I knew there had to be a better way—for me and for future generations.
But the real turning point came after I had my two daughters. My older girl suffers from severe vulva dermatitis, which makes the skin around her genitals incredibly sensitive. As we navigated cycles of weeping and healing, I became hyper-aware of the materials in her underwear and how they impacted her body. This experience sparked a question: if I was this careful about her everyday clothing, why wasn't I more mindful of the products she would one day use for her period?
That's when it clicked. With my background as a registered nurse, I knew I could make a small but significant change. I didn't want my children to be exposed to the potential toxins and plastics found in so many disposable period products. I wanted them to have access to a better choice. Something skin-friendly and planet-friendly.
Ovea was born from this vision. Our mission is to empower the next generation with safe, comfortable, and sustainable period care options. We believe that no one should have to choose between their health, comfort, and the environment.
